Lewis Hamilton says his “magical” pole position lap for the Singapore Grand Prix was one of the best laps of his career.

The Mercedes driver posted a 1:36.015s in the early stages of Q3 and eventually finished three tenths clear of Max Verstappen in P2.

“That lap just started perfect and it just kept going,” Hamilton said after the session.

Hamilton’s lap ensured he finished ahead of championship rival Sebastian Vettel, who could only muster P3.

“Lewis produced one of the most incredible qualifying laps I have witnessed,” Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff said.
