Kimi Raikkonen will help Alfa Romeo Sauber jump further up the grid, according to Team Principal Frederic Vasseur.
The 2007 World Champion will leave Scuderia Ferrari at the end of 2018 and join Sauber in a straight-swap with Charles Leclerc.
“Signing Kimi Räikkönen as our driver represents an important pillar of our project,” Vasseur said in a statement.
Vasseur noted that Raikkonen’s “undoubted talent and immense experience” will benefit the team’s future development.
He was confident Raikkonen and Alfa Romeo Sauber will fight for “results that count”.
