Stoffel Vandoorne still has a chance to race at McLaren in 2019, despite ongoing discussions linking Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, and Nyck De Vries to a seat.

McLaren is yet to confirm their driver line-up for 2019 and Vandoorne’s underwhelming haul of eight points in comparison to Fernando Alonso’s 44 has led to questions over his future with the team.

But, speaking to Motorsport.com, McLaren boss Zak Brown said the team has a “long-term” arrangement with Vandoorne and he’ll form part of their consideration in deciding “ultimately the best combination.”

Carlos Sainz is currently a free agent after Renault confirmed Daniel Ricciardo will replace him for 2019. Norris and De Vries are managed by McLaren and form part of their junior driver programme.
