Liberty Media’s failure to coax new manufacturers to Formula 1 for 2021 could have huge ramifications for the sport’s future.

A recent Strategy Group meeting indicated that current manufacturers have rejected Liberty Media’s initial 2021 regulation proposal because no new parties have committed to the sport.

Porsche has been attending the meetings but hasn’t made a decision on its future whilst Aston-Martin remains unconvinced, especially following Red Bull’s acquisition of Honda PU’s.

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff said at the Austrian Grand Prix that the Strategy Group meeting was always going to have “tough discussions.”

The meeting took place between the Austrian and British Grand Prix’s.
