After using the new unit during Friday practice, both Mercedes drivers described the PU as “fresh” and emphasized that its full potential won’t be shown until qualifying on Saturday afternoon.

Mercedes brought upgraded components to this weekend’s French Grand Prix after missing their original due date in Canada two weeks ago.
It appears to have worked well so far, with Lewis Hamilton topping both of Friday’s ninety-minute practice sessions.
Bottas did suffer a water leak during FP2, but he said the team is “confident” they can continue running the upgraded parts.
