After a poor showing of pace during Formula 1’s season-opening 2017 Australian Grand Prix, a crash during qualifying for Daniel Ricciardo summed up the palpably negative atmosphere at Red Bull Racing.

The new generation of cars in 2017 have been deemed harder to drive then previous years. This puts forward an explanation for the out-of-character crash Ricciardo had, which led to his gearbox problems during Sunday’s race.
